Washington, DC – Military Families United, a national military family and national security advocacy organization, released the following statement today concerning American troops’ pulling back from Iraq's urban centers by tomorrow, June 30. This adjustment is required by the November, 2008 SOFA between Baghdad and Washington and is the first step toward additional troop withdrawals from Iraq by the end of 2011.

On Monday, Military Families United called on the Obama Administration to disclose the cost behind transferring the four Uighurs from Guantanamo Bay to Bermuda.

Washington, DC - June 15, 2009 -- Military Families United has released the following statement demanding the White House fully disclose the cost to the taxpayer of the Uighers’ new accommodations and living expenses in Bermuda. The four Uighers are members of a terrorist organization deemed a threat to national security by the US Department of Treasury. They were captured in the Tora Bora region of Afghanistan after attending al-Qaida training camps in 2001. They were released last week from Guantanamo Bay.

Lippold, Former USS Cole Commander and Senior Military Fellow at Military Families United, released the following statement regarding the release of four Chinese Muslims from the Guantanamo Bay detention facility to Bermuda without trial. The four members of the Uighur ethnic group were captured on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border and were trained at the al-Qaeda affiliated East Turkistan Islamic Movement (ETIM) Tora Bora camp. Military Families United has released a policy briefing on the Uighurs.
